Kava Mocktails for the Holidays
Want a festive drink with a different kind of unwind? Kava is a drink made from the root of a Pacific Islands plant, traditionally shared at gatherings, and many people describe feeling relaxed and social after drinking it. Our kava-only seltzers make it easy to bring kava to the holiday table. New to kava? Read our guide to kava as an alcohol alternative.
These three recipes are built on No. 502 Kava Seltzer Paloma and No. 505 Kava Seltzer Hops + Orange, served as they come from the can, with juices, syrups and garnishes only. Two of them reuse the syrups from the recipes above.
Start low and go slow: read the label, sip slowly, and wait at least 30 minutes before having more. Never combine kava with alcohol. Keep kava drinks separate from the Ritual recipes above, and do not add drink infusers or other functional ingredients. Do not drive if you feel any effects, and talk to your doctor first if you are pregnant or nursing, have a liver condition, or take medications.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a kava mocktail?
A kava mocktail is an alcohol-free mixed drink built on kava, a drink made from the root of a Pacific Islands plant. Our holiday versions use ready-to-drink kava seltzers with juices, syrups and garnishes.
Can I add alcohol or a zero-proof spirit to a kava mocktail?
No. Never combine kava with alcohol. We also keep zero-proof spirits and standard bitters out of kava drinks, since many contain a trace of alcohol. The Ritual recipes above are a separate set of drinks.
How much kava seltzer should I use?
Start low and go slow. Read the label, sip slowly, and wait at least 30 minutes before having more so you know how kava affects you.
Who should skip kava?
Talk to your doctor before trying kava if you are pregnant or nursing, have a liver condition, or take any medications. Do not drive if you feel any effects.
