Since its 2016 opening, CBD Kratom says it has grown to become the largest privately owned cannabis and kratom retail chain in the United States. Rapid growth in an emerging field means that Human Resources Director Jason Brandl needs to be speedy, nimble, and creative.
Headcount at the company grew from 281 to 433 last year, even as the pandemic continued to redefine and challenge typical models of work. Brandl forged cultural connections within the company’s youthful workforce (the average age is 27) through a core values campaign focused on drive, responsibility, care, teamwork and achievement. With these values and a focus on diversity, inclusiveness, and work-life balance as guiding principles, turnover decreased by more than 16%.
Earlier this month, Brandl was promoted to chief operating officer of CBD Kratom, a role in which he'll continue to oversee the human resources department.
