Kratom, also known as mitragyna speciosa, is a tropical evergreen tree in the same family as the coffee plant. Native to Southeast Asia, Kratom has been used for centuries to relieve chronic pain and boost energy. Traditionally, kratom leaves were chewed or brewed in tea, but, in the last half of the 19th century, kratom leaves started to be dried, cured, and ground to produce powder, capsules, extracts, beverages, and edibles.
