Kratom 101: Nature’s Alkaloid Blend
Kratom comes from the leaves of the Mitragyna speciosa tree, traditionally grown and harvested in Southeast Asia. These leaves are naturally packed with over 40 compounds known as alkaloids. The most abundant one is called mitragynine, and it's responsible for the majority of kratom’s potential effects—like energy, focus, or relaxation—depending on the strain and how it’s used.
What Is 7-OH?
7-hydroxymitragynine, or 7-OH, is a naturally occurring compound in kratom, but only in small amounts. Most of the 7-OH your body experiences is created naturally during digestion, when mitragynine (kratom’s primary alkaloid) is metabolized.
Some products on the market artificially enhance kratom with highly concentrated or synthetic 7-OH. These shortcuts bypass the natural process your body relies on, producing a stronger but less predictable effect
